The Los Angeles Dodgers season has quickly fallen back down to earth after a terrific 8-2 start against the National League West.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have officially lost the road series against the St. Louis Cardinals after falling 7-2 on Wednesday night. This is the third loss in a row for the team, all at the hands of the Cardinals, and is the team’s first series loss of the entire year.

These things will happen over the course of a season and even the best teams in baseball are going to lose games. The important thing is winning around 92 games and getting into October, where from there it truly is a crapshoot.

However, it still is not enjoyable to see the Los Angeles Dodgers lose, especially in the manner in which they are losing. The Dodgers have scored a combined five runs in the three games in St. Louis, which makes the team look like a shell of the team that was present in the first 10 games.

More from LA Sports Hub

The Dodgers finally ran into good pitching on the Cardinals and the team was unable to overcome the hurdle. This is not indicative of the season as a whole but it is a nice reminder to fans that the team is not going to average eight runs a game all season long.

The Dodgers’ fourth and final game in St. Louis will be played at 10:15 a.m. LA time as the team is set for a Thursday matinee before having to travel all the way back to Los Angeles to host the Milwaukee Brewers.

Hopefully, the Dodgers can salvage a win in the final game to at least head into the NLCS rematch with some momentum. The Dodgers would be playing a dangerous game losing on Thursday and then having to face one of the NL’s best teams.

To escape St. Louis with at least one win there is going to have to be at least one great night offensively. Here is who we think will be responsible for that night as part of our Los Angeles Dodgers Beat the Streak series.

Jason’s pick (Current streak: 1): A.J. Pollock

The Los Angeles Dodgers are arguably coming up against the toughest starting pitcher of the four-game series in Michael Wacha, who has allowed two earned runs across 11.2 combined innings this year.

The silver lining for the Dodgers is that the team is historically pretty good against Wacha. The current slate of Dodger hitters has a .368 batting average against Wacha with a .935 OPS. Those are not numbers to sleep one.

On of the best hitters against Wacha is A.J. Pollock, who has five hits in 10 at-bats lifetime against Wacha with the team’s lone home run against the right-hander.

Pollock is going to have a game similar to the big game he had early in the year at Dodger Stadium, which backed by a great Walker Buehler start, will lead to a Dodgers win.

The fans pick (Current streak: 1): N/A

This one is completely our fault. If you follow this series, you may know that we did not have a fan selection for yesterday’s game, either. Nobody responded to that post and we completely forgot that today’s game was a morning game.

It is far too late for anyone to respond (close to midnight at the time of writing this) so we are just going to have to take our medicine and go without a fan pick.
