Los Angeles Lakers: Three free agents LA has no chance of signing
By Jason Reed
3. Klay Thompson
Where Kawhi Leonard does not seem to be a good fit to play alongside LeBron James, Klay Thompson is literally the perfect fit, both on the court and off the court, to play alongside LeBron.

Thompson is a great defender and would create one of the best defensive backcourts in the league alongside Lonzo Ball. More importantly, he is arguably the second-best shooter in the league behind Stephen Curry, which would be massive for this Lakers team.
Off the court, Thompson is not someone that needs the attention but is used to the trials and tribulations of being on a title-winning team and the drama that comes with it. If anyone can handle playing with LeBron, it is Thompson.
The team even has a hole to fill at shooting guard and does not need to move around any pieces to sign Thompson. It is a match made in heaven for a guy with Southern California roots but will never happen.
Thompson is not going to leave the Golden State Warriors. With Durant likely leaving, the Warriors are going to have the space to give Thompson the kind of contract he deserves while also giving him the comfort of getting to remain on the same team.
Thompson is arguably more loved in Golden State than Durant, which is saying something. Thompson was meant to be one-half of the splash bros and really has no reason to leave the Warriors.
He has been an intriguing target to consider for the Lakers even before the team signed LeBron James. Unfortunately, all that intrigue will just lead to Thompson getting a big deal from the Warriors, not the Lakers.
