Los Angeles Lakers: Why the Lonzo Ball-Bulls rumors are ridiculous
By Jason Reed
The Los Angeles Lakers have their own fair share of trade rumors and one recent rumor, which involves Lonzo Ball, has been pretty preposterous.
The Los Angeles Lakers have had rumors circling above their head nonstop over the last several years and those have only grown substantially with the addition of LeBron James to the mix.
There are trade rumors, free agent rumors, draft rumors; everything and anything you could imagine about the Lakers coming to the surface, all of which likely are true in some regards due to the front office’s desperation to save face and sign a second star.
However, the most recent rumors surrounding Lonzo Ball are so far-fetched and ridiculous that we decided to dedicate an entire article to tell you why they are so silly.

The reports indicate that the Bulls and Lakers have had trade discussions around Lonzo Ball, who would be brought in to fix the Bulls’ point guard position.
The number one problem with these rumors and reports: the Bulls have practically nothing to offer the Lakers that would be beneficial. The team is not going to trade Lauri Markkanen, and even if they are willing, it would not be worth it for the Lakers.
The Lakers are very thin at point guard moving forward and it would make no sense to trade Ball for a guy that is only going to complicate the rotations further.
Aside from Markkanen the Bulls really have nothing worth Ball that would even make the Lakers consider this trade. Otto Porter would be a giant waste of money, Zach LaVine doesn’t help and Wendell Carter Jr. is in the same boat as Markkanen.
Perhaps the only thing of value that the Bulls can offer the Los Angeles Lakers would be the team’s first-round selection in this year’s draft. Even then, the only way it would really be worth it would be if it is the first overall pick and if it is the Bulls are not going to pass on Zion Williamson for Lonzo Ball.
While it is true that Ball would be a good fit in Chicago, the Los Angeles Lakers could not ask for a worst potential trading partner for Ball. There really is no avenue in which it makes the team better, which should be the goal as the contending window is alarmingly thin.
The Lakers already messed up once by trading a second overall pick point guard before he got a chance to mature and blossom and approaching his prime. Trading the guy that essentially replaces him would be one of the worst things the Lakers could do this summer.
I guess the point here is to not pay any attention whatsoever to these reported trade rumors, the Lakers would never be foolish enough to trade Ball to the Chicago Bulls.
