We are just a few days away from the 2019 NFL Draft, which means it is time to give our last prediction for who the Los Angeles Rams will select.

The 2019 NFL Draft has kind of snuck up this year as the hype and anticipation for the draft has not been as high as past years. For the Los Angeles Rams, this year has been different for the right reasons, as it is the first time in three years that the team has a first-round pick.

The last time the Los Angeles Rams had a first-round selection was when the team selected Jared Goff first overall in 2016. Los Angeles did not have a pick the following year because of the trade to move up for Goff and didn’t have a selection in 2018 after trading it for Brandin Cooks.

The Rams have the 31st overall pick in the draft with several needs to fill. Because of these several needs, as well as the Rams’ activity this offseason, there have been so many different selections in so many different mock drafts that it could be hard to follow as a fan.

That is the case every year though and often times the final selections are nowhere close to anyone’s mock drafts.

It does not stop us from making our predictions, though, and with only a few more days until the draft, we are ready to give our final, bonafide concrete prediction.

With the 31st overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Los Angeles Rams will select Jawaan Taylor, offensive tackle from Florida.

Taylor is in the mid to late 20s in most people’s big boards, which should lead to him being selected fairly close 31st. Because of the needs of the teams surrounding the Rams, we think that Taylor will sneak his way down to the 31st pick, where the Rams will scoop him up.

Taylor is the perfect right tackle to bring in to start moving towards a young offensive line. With the loss of Rodger Saffold and John Sullivan, the Rams offensive line has already taken a hit. Left tackle Andrew Whitworth is not getting any younger and is in the last year of his contract as well.

If the Rams do not start to solve the offensive line now between the next two years then they could be in for a rude awakening in 2020. This should be the start of the process for Rams and Taylor is the perfect selection to kickstart the process.

At six-foot-five and over 300 pounds, Taylor certainly has the size of a starting right tackle in the NFL. He excels as a mauler in run-blocking, often driving opposing defensive lineman off the edge and down the field.

He is a bit green compared to the rest of the NFL when it comes to stopping power rushers on the outside but that is something that is only going to get better with NFL coaching. Very few tackles come into the league as a finished product.

dark. Next. The mistake the Rams can make in the draft

Taylor is also such a great pick because he is about as surefire as it can get. The worst-case scenario for Taylor is that he moves over to right guard and is above average at the position.
