3. Trade for Anthony Davis

This is the big trade that the Los Angeles Lakers were unable to get done in the regular season, which also resulted in a fair amount of leaks to the media that painted the front office in a negative light and likely caused friction between LeBron and the young core.

More from LA Sports Hub

Literally, every piece of the young core was offered in a trade for Davis. Of course, the young guys, who genuinely enjoy themselves together, would feel slighted if the Lakers signed LeBron and traded them all away.

But if the Los Angeles Lakers want to ultimately get LeBron’s trust then this might be the best route to take. It would show LeBron that the front office is all-in on winning right now and will give him the necessary pieces to succeed right away.

The Pelicans probably missed their chance to get that entire package as the Lakers could theoretically trade picks and two of the main three of Kyle Kuzma, Lonzo Ball and Brandon Ingram.

Would it be the best move to make? Probably not. Davis is a superstar and is one of the five most talented players in the league at his best. A team with him and LeBron would be absolutely incredible.

But unless Davis agrees to sign on long-term and carry on the franchise like Kobe Bryant did when Shaquille O’Neal left then it could hurt the team long term.

The Lakers would essentially be trading their future away with the possibility that Davis is only on the Lakers as long as James is.

Next. Lakers have a massive disadvantage. dark

And if that is the case, there exists a route in which the Lakers don’t have any of their young core, nor LeBron or Davis in three years. But hey, that is the risk you take with LeBron.
