The Los Angeles Dodgers are looking to extend the home winning streak to seven games with a win over the Pittsburgh Pirates in Rich Hill’s 2019 debut.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have been a rather streaky team to start the 2019 season but there is one thing we can definitely tell so far: the Dodgers are going to be great at Dodger Stadium this season.

The Dodgers are currently riding a six-game winning streak at Chavez Ravine and have been otherwise dominant in their home ballpark with a 12-4 record.

And despite riding a six-game losing streak earlier in the season, the Dodgers still have the best winning percentage in the National League in a surprisingly tough National League West.

Sunday’s matinee contest against the Pittsburgh Pirates will not only extend the team’s home winning streak to seven games but will also give them the series sweep over the NL Central foes.

A sweep would give the Dodgers some much-needed momentum as they head into a six-game road trip against the San Fransisco Giants and San Diego Padres.

On the bump for the Pirates in this contest is Trevor Williams, who is going to be on the receiving end of an offensive showcase by the Dodgers. The Dodgers were held to no runs up until the seventh inning on Saturday, where they scored all of their three runs for the contest.

With it being a day game the ball is going to be flying a bit further and the offense is going to look to make Rich Hill’s 2019 debut as easy as possible. As a result, I think we are going to see at least three home runs out of the Boys in Blue today.

Who exactly is going to hit those home runs, though? We will tell you as part of our Los Angeles Dodgers Beat the Streak series.

Jason’s pick (Current streak: 0): Max Muncy

Man, I really need to stop relying on Corey Seager to extend my hitting streak. Seager has not been himself to start the year and it feels like every single time I pick him he has a hitless showing. Statistically, though, Seager probably is due for a hit today after being held hitless in both games this series.

However, we are staying away from that and instead are going to go the direction of Max Muncy, who also has not had the hottest start to the 2019 campaign but is due for a home run on Sunday.

Muncy has five home runs on the year with just a .232 average and is undergoing the slump that many people were expecting after his breakout season. Luckily for Muncy, the team’s success has been able to take away the focus from the slump.

Today feels like it is set up perfectly for Muncy to have a great showing that perhaps could pull him out of this rut. It is a beautiful day in Los Angeles and Muncy is going to get a hold of something early on to set the tone for himself and the rest of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
