There are a lot of things that make up a great NFL team but of them all, the Los Angeles Chargers have the one key asset that every team should strive for.

The Los Angeles Chargers enter the 2019 season with one of the most well-rounded rosters in the National Football League. A year after posting the joint-best record in the AFC and getting a playoff win under their belt, the Chargers have as good of a chance as anyone to win the Super Bowl.

The Chargers have the noticeable assets that every Super Bowl winning team has. They have a Pro Bowl quarterback in Philip Rivers who is hungry for his first Super Bowl ring to finally go down as one of the all-time greats, which he certainly deserves.

Rivers has the tools around him to beat teams in a multitude of ways. Whether it is deep attacks, methodical drives or pounding the football with Melvin Gordon, the offense has many ways to score points.

They have a great defense that can pressure quarterbacks and play a smothering style of play. Most importantly about the defense, they can force turnovers, something that is massive when the going really gets tough in the postseason.

It is not those textbook things that can help lead a team to a Super Bowl the most, though. While those things certainly serve as the foundation for success, the Los Angeles Chargers have a massive asset in their back pocket that every team strives for.

The ones that pull it off are oftentimes the ones that can get through the tough stretches and make it to the Super Bowl.

The Los Angeles Chargers are more than capable of dealing with the injury bug. Unless the entire roster gets a case of the stomach flu the night before the game, the Chargers can survive several injuries and still be successful.

We saw this last year on full display. This was a team that went on the road without Melvin Gordon and surprised the Pittsburgh Steelers and then one-upped themselves by coming back against the Kansas City Chiefs on the road without Gordon, Austin Ekeler or Keenan Allen.

This is also a team that did not get a full season of Joey Bosa and still went 7-2 without him. This is a team has depth in nearly every area and can survive the injuries that otherwise would derail the team.

It happens to every NFL team. Every sports fan wants to complain and say that their team has the worst injury luck but if you look around the league, it happens to everyone. It’s football. It is a contact sport and injuries are going to happen.

The Los Angeles Chargers realize that and have built a roster that can overcome these hurdles. Of course, there are exceptions. If the offensive line is completely banged up it will be a challenge and if Philip Rivers (knock on wood) goes down with an injury then it will be immensely challenging with Tyrod Taylor under center.

However, the team can afford to not have Bosa or another part of the defensive line for a few weeks as the defensive line is insane. The secondary is just as talented and is even deeper, so losing one of them for a few weeks won’t be the end of the world.

The team has both Austin Ekeler and Justin Jackson behind Melvin Gordon, both of which are playmakers. The Chargers always pull surprising receivers out of their hat and the team even survived an entire year without Hunter Henry last season.

This is a team that is equipped for anything that the NFL season can throw at them, something not many teams can say.

Next. Chargers can extend Bosa and Gordon. dark

Which means this is also a team that should be absolutely terrifying to play when they are at full strength.
