The Los Angeles Dodgers and Colorado Rockies were the NL’s two hottest teams heading into Friday and now the Dodgers look to complete a series sweep.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have not yet lost a game against the Colorado Rockies this season. After sweeping them pretty definitively at Coors Field in April, the team has won the first two games of this weekend home series via walk-off.

Not only were the games won by walk-off but they were both walk-off home runs off the bat of a rookie. Matt Beaty and Alex Verdugo became the first rookie teammates to hit walk-off home runs in back-to-back games in MLB history.

This team continues to make history and continues to roll along as the best team in baseball. Not only do the Dodgers have the best record in the Major Leagues but the team has a staggering 33-9 record at home.

If the Dodgers can maintain the team’s 78.6 percent home win percentage then it will go down as the eighth-best home record in baseball history, numbers one through seven all came in 1975 or sooner.

However, the team is 17-3 (85%) at home in their last 20. While it definitely is hard to maintain, if the Dodgers win 85 percent of their remaining home games the team will have a 66-15 record at home in 2019. That would be the best of all-time.

It is way to soon to get into that discussion but it is still fun to see how good the team has been at home thus far this season. Kenta Maeda is taking the mound on Sunday to extend the home success while the Rockies send Antonio Senzatela to avoid the sweep.

Senzatela has a 5.09 ERA on the year, so it might not seem all that promising that the Rockies can avoid the sweep. Either way, the Dodgers’ offense is going to look to score plenty and as part of our Los Angeles Dodgers Beat the Streak series, this is who we think can get at least one base hit in the contest.

Jason’s pick (Current streak: 2): Joc Pederson

The Los Angeles Dodgers actually don’t have a ton of matchup data against Senzatela. Overall, Dodger hitters have 25 at-bats against the right-hander, nine of which belong to the inactive A.J. Pollock.

Thus, we don’t have a large sample size to bank on to select a hitter. With it being a right-handed pitcher with a high ERA and WHIP, though, the power-hitting bat of Joc Pederson seems like the perfect selection.

Pederson has one double in his four at-bats against Senzatela, which is not really telling of what he will do on Sunday.

However, the ball flies a bit farther during afternoon games at Dodger Stadium and nobody knows how to launch a home run quite like Pederson. It feels like Dodger fans are going to get a little bit of Joc Pop in Sunday’s game.
