3. Anthony Davis records multiple 5×5 games

The NBA community has really fallen in love with the triple-double with Russell Westbrook averaging one in back-to-back seasons as it has been viewed as the line where a great game turns into a fantastic game in the NBA.

Another box score anomaly that some fans might not even know about and certainly does not get as much praise is the 5×5. It is simple: record five things in five different categories. It is very rare in the NBA and Anthony Davis has pulled it off, last season to be exact.

A 5×5 has been accomplished 22 times by 14 different players, with both Davis and Jokic recording one in 2018, which were only the third and fourth instance this decade.

The biggest challenge is recording both five blocks and five steals per game. However, with Davis being the defensive anchor he is as he will need to guard the other team’s best forward, he is going to be put in many chances to block or strip the ball away.

Not only can Davis accomplish the feat again but we think he will do so at least twice. That is not unprecedented, as Andre Kirilenko did it twice in 2003 and Hakeem Olajuwon did it three times in 1993. In fact, Olajuwon has accomplished the feat the most with six career 5×5.

Scoring is no problem, rebounding is not a problem and getting five assists should be relatively easy with this roster. All he needs is two or more games with five blocks and five steals, which he has proven he can do before.
