The Los Angeles Dodgers gave the St. Louis Cardinals a rude awakening and now look to win their fourth game in a row on Tuesday.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have been the best home team in baseball this year and thus far on this homestand, the team is proving that correct. At the halfway point of the 10-game homestand, the Dodgers have a 4-1 record with some pretty great wins.

Whether it was the offense coming alive or walking it off against the San Diego Padres, this has been a fun homestand thus far. Heck, even in the team’s one loss on the homestand Dodger fans got their first look at pitching prospect Dustin May.

Monday night’s win was especially fulfilling as the St. Louis Cardinals swept the Dodgers in four games earlier in the year at Busch Stadium, which was part of a six-game losing streak for the Dodgers.

The Cardinals are actually one of just three teams that has a winning record against the Dodgers with at least 50 games played, the other two being the Los Angeles Angels and San Francisco Giants. Because of that, you cannot blame Dodger fans for being worried heading into this series.

However, the Boys in Blue started the series in the best way possible and now look to carry that momentum into the rest of the homestand. Clayton Kershaw is on the bump and if the Dodgers score at least four runs then chances are they are going to win, as he is unbeaten in his career when that is the case.

Expecting two consecutive offensive outbursts is a bit unfair but there is no doubt that the Dodgers can do it again or could at least score four runs for Kershaw.

As part of our Los Angeles Dodgers Beat the Streak series, this is who we think can get a base hit to help Kershaw’s efforts.

Jason’s pick (Current streak: 0): Clayton Kershaw

Oh wow, so the guy that we are going with to help Clayton Kershaw is Clayton Kershaw himself. This is inception levels of mind foolery that is going on right now.

The fact of the matter is that I have not yet selected a pitcher to get a base his yet this season despite successfully picking a pitcher multiple times last year. With my streak hitting a bit of a dry spell here recently, I need to do anything to switch it up.

Kershaw is actually having one of his worst offensive years as he has just three hits in 33 at-bats, good enough for a .091 batting average. However, he has been remarkable in laying down the sac bunt, as he has 11 sacrifices already this year. He has 13 combined over the last three seasons.

Today we do not want to see a bunt and instead, we want to see Kershaw slap something up the middle or even slap the ball over the third baseman’s head, who will be pulled in if it is a bunt situation.

It might seem crazy, but you know what, Clayton Kershaw is actually due for a base hit. I am extremely confident in this selection.
