The Los Angeles Dodgers finally lost to the Atlanta Braves this season but still have a chance to take the series in Atlanta, two games to one.

The Atlanta Braves finally got the best of the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2019 as after four losses to the Boys in Blue, the Braves were able to walk away with a 4-3 victory on Saturday night. However, Dodger fans still have to feel good about already clinching the season series against a potential playoff foe.

It also should feel comforting that it took a near-perfect game for the Braves to defeat the Dodgers. If Ronald Acuna doesn’t make that diving play with the bases loaded then it could have been a completely different game. If Hyun-Jin Ryu didn’t allow back-to-back shots for the first time this year then the Dodgers would have won.

The Braves played the perfect game against the Dodgers and walked away with a one-run win in which they still only scored four runs. It is impossible to win every game in the season and this is the kind of loss that can still make you feel confident.

Sunday is going to be an interesting game for the Dodgers as they not only look to take the three-game series in Atlanta but also have several storylines surrounding them.

First of all, rookie Tony Gonsolin is getting the starting nod as he tries out for the postseason roster and fellow rookie Dustin May will be appearing out of the bullpen as the Dodgers look to prepare him to come out of the bullpen in October.

Plus, trade deadline acquisition Jedd Gyorko is starting at first base and making his Dodger debut. Gyorko is another utility infielder that gives the Dodgers more options for a right-handed bat. A hot finish to the season will lead to Gyorko making the postseason roster.

Dodger fans are going to be treated to some Sunday morning baseball with a 10:20 a.m. PDT start time. As part of our Los Angeles Dodgers Beat the Streak series, here is who we think can get at least one base hit.

Jason’s pick (Current streak: 0): Jedd Gyorko

Who else am I going to pick other than the brand new bat in the Dodgers lineup? Gyorko is going to be competing for a playoff spot on a team that could win the World Series, so you know we are going to see the best out of him.

This position battle is important as well as he could replace David Freese if Freese is not healthy by October or could even make the roster over Enrique Hernandez if ends up having an ice-cold September.

Gyorko is 0-3 with two strikeouts in his career against Max Fried but that is okay, trends are meant to be broken. On Sunday, Gyorko is going to break that trend and introduce himself to the Dodger fanbase.
