Los Angeles Dodgers: Facing an old Dodger after a beatdown
By Jason Reed
The Los Angeles Dodgers pummeled the Toronto Blue Jays by a final tally of 16-3 on Tuesday and will face an old teammate on Wednesday in a bullpen game.
Things did not get off on the right foot for the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday night. Rookie shortstop sensation Bo Bichette hit a lead-off home run and another home run off the bat of Derek Fisher in the third inning gave the Jays a 2-0 lead.
Clayton Kershaw noticeably did not have his best stuff in the outing but was still able to grind his way through six innings while allowing three runs, the third coming off yet another home run by Bo Bichette.
Two key double plays kept this game from truly getting out of hand for Kershaw as he did what he does best and managed the damage.

Even if he let up five or six runs though the Dodgers still would have walked away with a comfortable victory. The team scored 16 runs on Tuesday night in a night where everybody joined in on the fun. Every single starting position player recorded a base hit on Tuesday.
Tonight the Dodgers look to do the same in what will be a bullpen game for the Blue Jays. Starting it off for Toronto is a familiar face in Wilmer Font, who pitched for the Dodgers in 2017 and 2018.
Toronto amazingly is Font’s fourth team since leaving the Dodgers, which shows you all you need to know about how he pitches. With the Dodgers, Font had a 12.86 ERA in 14 innings pitched. He has actually bee pretty good with Toronto so far, though, as he has a 2.45 ERA in 18 and one-third innings.
Maybe returning to Dodger Stadium will reignite some old nightmares for Font as the Dodgers look to jump on him early and give Walker Buehler a crisp, easy start. As part of our Los Angeles Dodgers Beat the Streak series, here is who we think can record at least one base hit.
Jason’s pick (Current streak: 2): Max Muncy
Max Muncy was really good in Tuesday night’s game even though he only had one hit in the contest. Muncy reached in all four of his at-bats, walking three times and hitting a solo shot. It was his two-out walk in the third inning that led to the Dodgers scoring four more runs with two outs.
I have been preaching this for a while now but Max Muncy would be the perfect lead-off guy for the Dodgers. The Dodgers love having that power-hitting bat atop the order in Joc Pederson but Pederson does not get on base nearly enough to be a lead-off guy.
Muncy, despite the .260 average, has a .374 on-base percentage this season with 32 home runs. He gets on base and has the power and the only other players in the MLB with 30+ home runs and a .374+ on-base percentage are Ronald Acuna, Freddie Freeman, Alex Bregman, Cody Bellinger, Christian Yelich and Mike Trout.
Tonight he is going to get on base via the base hit as he will get an early-game at-bat against his old teammate and will rope the ball to the right side for an extra-base hit off of Font.
