Los Angeles Lakers: Ranking each role player by importance
By Jason Reed
1. Danny Green
You probably were not able to predict the exact order of this list but I would bet that you easily predicted who would top this list. Danny Green was the team’s marquee free-agent signing this offseason and is undoubtedly the most important role player on the Lakers.

Green is entering the year as the fourth-best player on the Los Angeles Lakers and you could even make the case that Green is more important to the team’s success than Kyle Kuzma. I am not saying it, but I could easily be convinced.
Green is the ideal three and D player to put alongside LeBron and he is going to be the team’s go-to shooter at the three-point line as well as being responsible for defending the oppositions best guard or small forward.
Green will be tasked with the smaller guys while Davis takes on the star forwards or centers and the two are equally as important on defense, showing how impactful Green is going to be for the Lakers.
Green is that textbook role player that every title-contending team should be aiming to have and it is no accident that Green has two NBA Championships under his belt.
He has the experience and knows what it takes to win a championship and has proven his importance. Need a guy to hit a clutch three in a playoff game? Danny Green is your guy. Heck, he is shooting 39.7 percent from beyond the arc in the playoffs, after all (only four percent lower than Stephen Curry).
Could Green be a disappointment and fall off the top spot? Sure. But either way, how he plays in 2019 is going to have a big impact on the Los Angeles Lakers.
