The Los Angeles Dodgers have won four games in a row and look to move to five in a row as they welcome the San Francisco Giants on Friday.

After losing three games in a row to the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Los Angeles Dodgers have won four games in a row to right the ship and maintain the standings lead in the National League.

However, the Atlanta Braves are red-hot and have closed the gap with the Dodgers significantly. The Dodgers have just a four and a half-game lead on the Braves with 20 games left to play. So while it would take the Dodgers getting cold and the Braves staying hot, it is possible.

Atlanta has won seven in a row and is 8-2 in their last 10. However, seven of their last eight games have come against two poor teams in the Toronto Blue Jays and Chicago White Sox.

With their next 14 games coming against just the Washington Nationals and Philadelphia Phillies, the Dodgers can be hopeful that they do not continue being red-hot. To be safe, though, the Boys in Blue must stay rolling against the Giants at home.

Oh, and let’s not forget about the battle for potential home-field advantage in the World Series. The Dodgers are half a game behind the New York Yankees and half a game ahead of the Houston Astros for the best record in baseball, so it is really anyone’s for the taking.

Clayton Kershaw takes the mound for the Dodgers against Jeff Samardzija, who is having a very solid year with a 3.61 ERA. Kershaw ranks among the league-leaders in run support when he pitches, so the Dodger bats are likely going to be hot tonight, hopefully.

As part of our Los Angeles Dodgers Beat the Streak series, here is who we think can get at least one base hit.

Jason’s pick (Current streak: 0): Corey Seager

Most of the Dodger hitters do not have very good lifetime numbers against Jeff Samardzija with there being two notable exceptions: Justin Turner and Corey Seager.

Today, I am going to go with the left-handed bat in Corey Seager, as that matchup seems to provide more of a sure thing than going with the right on right matchup with Turner, even though Turner is red-hot.

Seager has five hits in 15 at-bats against Samardzija with two RBIs. One of those five hits is a double, although he has never hit a home run against the right-hander.

That is going to change on Friday as Seager is going to fuel the Dodgers with a mid-game home run that gives them a cushioned lead and gets Samardzija out of the game.

And if he doesn’t do that, well, all I really need is a base hit.
