There has been speculation of the Los Angeles Clippers being interested in Kevin Love that has been nothing more than mere speculation.

The Los Angeles Clippers have one of the best teams in the NBA and are in a prime position to win the NBA Championship this season. However, that does not mean that the team won’t add pieces when applicable, as any move that helps the team is a good move.

Recently, there has been speculation that Kevin Love could be a potential trade target for the Los Angeles Clippers. The speculation started simply because Brad Botkin of CBS Sports mentioned the Los Angeles Clippers in a column about a potential Love trade.

First of all, it was just a column in which Botkin explored potential fits for Love, something that is common in the sports media world, there is nothing wrong with that. However, there was just one mention of the Clippers in the entire article. They were one of the coveted teams that were covered extensively.

This, in turn, resulted in some trade rumors pieces that, as we have seen on the internet far too often, spiraled into something bigger than it ever was supposed to be. Now, there probably are Clipper fans that glanced at the headline and think that Kevin Love might be a Clipper.

As of right now, there are no legitimate reports, rumblings or rumors of the Clippers being even remotely interested in Kevin Love. Anything else you read that claims that there are are any sort of talks is just a result of things getting blown out of proportion on the internet.

Plus, all you have to do is stroll over to the NBA Trade Machine and try making this trade to realize that is just is not feasible. The Clippers would have to trade Maurice Harkless, Lou Williams and Montrezl Harrell just to get the contracts to match Kevin Love.

Why would the Clippers trade the best sixth man in the league and one fo the most important players on the roster in Harrell for someone that would not make the team any better than they already are?

And why would the Cleveland Cavaliers take a package that has virtually no long-term upside? There are possible trades to make for Kevin Love, this absolutely is not one of them.

Heck, even Botkins followed his one mere mention of the Clippers (and Denver Nuggets) by saying, “Neither of those teams probably have a package to entice the Cavs.” But it was still turned into something that it wasn’t.

The Clippers have what they need to contend for the NBA Championship. If they are going to make any sort of moves it will come at the trade deadline and likely be something small.

It definitely is not going to be Kevin Love. So, please, don’t listen to this empty speculation unless you hear a legitimate report from a legitimate source.
