3. Jared Goff

The most obvious area that we could have put on this list: Jared Goff simply has to be better if the Los Angeles Rams are not only going to win this game but if they are once again going to contend for a Super Bowl.

More from LA Sports Hub

Goff just got a massive payday from the Rams as the team has bought in on him being the quarterback of the future. And while Goff showed immense improvements in the first two years under McVay, there have always been troubling signs around his play.

We started to really see those signs late last year when the team could not rely as heavily on Todd Gurley and that culminated in an awful Super Bowl performance for Goff. Through four weeks this year, Goff has been anything but impressive.

Yes, he threw for over 500 yards in Week 4 but his three interceptions were also very costly and he threw those 517 yards on 68 attempts. Goff ranks 26th in the league in total quarterback ranking, one spot behind Eli Manning and only three spots higher than Mitchell Trubisky.

There is no way around it: he has to be better. Getting the running game going more and allowing Goff to bank on that play-action offense is going to help his play immensely.

But at some point, he has to do it himself. He has to take the reigns of the offense and prove he is the guy and not rely on having an elite running game as a cushion.

Unfortunately, I would not be optimistic about Goff in this game. He is going to Seattle in primetime on a short week. History shows that he will struggle immensely in this situation, so hopefully, he can change course before becoming the next Kirk Cousins.
