Los Angeles Chargers drop close game to Denver Broncos
By Hil Lopez
The Denver Broncos headed into their matchup with the Los Angeles Chargers without a win and left with a one in the win column.
The Los Angeles Chargers had a meltdown against the previously winless Broncos on Sunday. They gave up the first 17 points of the game and tried numerous times to try and get back into the game through the air.
Unfortunately for them, they were unable to as the Broncos held firm holding them to only 13 points in a 20-13 defeat for the Chargers.
Philip Rivers had his most discouraging game this season as he threw 48 times, but only for 211 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions. Even though he was not sacked today, Rivers was under pressure constantly and his offensive line was unable to give him time for his receivers to develop longer routes.

A lot of Rivers’ passes were of the underneath variety as Austin Ekeler had a season-high 15 catches for 86 yards. Keenan Allen was shadowed by Chris Harris, and he was shut down for a majority of the game as he had only 4 catches for 18 yards.
The Chargers could get nothing started with the running game, even with Melvin Gordon coming back from his holdout. He rushed 12 times for only 31 yards and had four catches for a paltry seven yards.
Special teams created the only touchdown for the Chargers as punt returner Desmond King took a punt back for 65 yards which had cut the lead to 17-7 at the time.
Though the defense had a rough start at the beginning of the game, as they gave up two touchdowns to the Broncos, they played pretty well after.
They caused three fumbles in total and also forced Flacco to throw an interception as well. Rodrick Teamer led the team in tackles with nine total and the Chargers defense was also able to sack Flacco three times during the game as well.
Though the Chargers did drop to 2-3 on the season, they have a chance to right the ship against the Steelers on Sunday night next week.
