Los Angeles Dodgers: Prospects that could be used as trade bait
By Jason Reed
3. DJ Peters
DJ Peters is probably a name you are familiar with because of his time with the big league club during Spring Training in 2019. Peters spent the 2019 season split between AA Tulsa and AAA Oklahoma City and potentially will find himself stuck in between this season.

Similar to Edwin Rios this season, Peters might end up being too good for AAA but not good enough to warrant making a roster space on the big league club, especially with how much talent is on the roster.
This is especially true in the outfield. Right now, the Dodgers have Joc Pederson, A.J. Pollock, Alex Verdugo and Cody Bellinger all as primary outfielders with Enrique Hernandez, Chris Taylor and Matt Beaty providing depth as well.
There is no room for more outfielders, which seems to be a trend for every Dodger team. While Peters can wait around and be a September call-up this year, I would not be surprised to see the Dodgers use his value in some capacity this season.
Peters is the 10th-ranked prospect in the Dodgers’ system and absolutely could be the marquee prospect in a deal for an above-average reliever.
Peters has hit 79 home runs over his last three minor league seasons and there are plenty of teams in the league that Peters would be starting for on Opening Day in 2020.
He won’t get a superstar if he is not packaged with other prospects. However, just Peters alone can get the Dodgers a nice return this winter.
