Los Angeles Rams: Why winning the NFC West is still possible
By Jason Reed
3. The 49ers’ record will start to stumble at the end of the season
The San Francisco 49ers are the only undefeated team in the NFC and look like they are not going to slow down. However, there is a reason why the team is still being slept on as the best team in the NFC and that is because the 49ers have had it fairly easy-going thus far in the season.

The 49ers have wins over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a game that Jameis Winston literally threw away, the Bengals, Steelers, Cleveland Browns, Rams and Washington Redskins. Outside of the Rams, all the other wins are against not-so-formidable opposition.
The 49ers didn’t look great in their win over the Washington Redskins, either. Granted, the conditions were not ideal with a continuous downpour all game, but the 49ers were still only able to put nine points on the board despite making it to the red zone four times.
It still isn’t too difficult the next four weeks as the 49ers take on the Carolina Panthers, Cardinals, Seahawks and Cardinals. The hope is that San Francisco will lose to either the Seahawks or Panthers and get shocked by the Cardinals one week.
I still think we see the 49ers with a 9-1 record after these four. However, they then have a three-game stretch against the Green Bay Packers, Ravens and New Orleans Saints. That very well could be a 1-2 stretch, making the 49ers 10-3.
After a tune-up against the Falcons, the 49ers will take on the Los Angeles Rams, who will have either the same record or one game behind the 49ers in the standings.
This is where the early bye week will haunt the 49ers, as after a tough stretch of games the team is going to be worn out and puttering to the finish line.
