The Los Angeles Chargers had yet another frustrating loss to move to 2-5 on the season and now should have a flash sale at the trade deadline.

The Los Angeles Chargers have been extremely frustrating to watch this season. Despite being the franchise with the most frustrating avoidable losses in NFL history, this year has really been a lot to handle for Charger fans.

The Chargers headed into the season with such high expectations. This is the same team that last season went 12-4, won a playoff game and had several impressive wins in the regular season.

The Chargers seemingly changed the culture of the franchise. All the games that they would usually lose they ended up winning and with a talented young roster, the sky was the limit for the team this year.

It started before the year even started as the Chargers had to battle injuries in typical Charger fashion. The biggest injury was Derwin James, who is the anchor of the defense and is thoroughly missed.

Since September 1 the Chargers have placed seven players on the injured reserve. That is not counting Melvin Ingram, Nasir Adderly, Justin Jackson, Mike Badgley, Justin Jones or Brandon Mebane, who are all questionable or outright out for this Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears.

The offensive line is beaten up, the receiving corps is a shell of itself and despite all of this, the Chargers have managed to stay in every single game only to blow the game time and time again.

This is not a playoff team. They would have to, at worst, finish 6-2 to make the playoffs. That just isn’t happening.

It is time for the Los Angeles Chargers to sell all the possible assets that they can at the trade deadline. Any player that they do not plan to be on the team in the long-term is a candidate to be traded.

Melvin Gordon can be the first to go. They are not going to get a huge return for him as he wants a new contract after this year, but they can get something from a contending team that needs a running back for a playoff push.

Hunter Henry can even go as well if the team has no plans of re-signing him. If the Chargers are prioritizing re-signing Henry and think they can actually get a deal done then great. If not, trade him as he is a free agent after the year and the Chargers can get a decent return from a team that might look to re-sign him.

Heck, while this would never happen, I wouldn’t even care if Philip Rivers was traded to a team like the Chicago Bears and he could actually contend for a Super Bowl. He deserves better.

Anything that the Los Angeles Chargers can trade this season should be traded. It is time to blow it up. This year is already a lost cause and there is no point in holding onto any assets that might not be with the team long-term.
