The UCLA football team defeated the Colorado Buffaloes on Saturday and accomplished something that has not been done with Chip Kelly.

The UCLA Football Bruins have seemingly turned their season around beating the Colorado Buffaloes 31-14 for their third straight win. The win equaled the Bruins total wins from a year ago (4) and the three-game win streak is their longest during the Chip Kelly era.

As a result of the win, the Bruins have turned into contenders for the Pac-12 South Division title, one game behind the Utah Utes.

The Bruins took care of the Buffaloes dominating play outgaining them 426 to 283 total yards. The Bruins built up a 24-7 lead going into the fourth quarter and unlike last week the Bruins avoided letting their opponent get back into the game.

Run Kelley Run!!!

Last year, the Bruins season turned around when Joshua Kelley became an integral part of the running game, to no one’s surprise the same thing is happening again. Over the Bruins, three-game winning streak, Kelley has rushed for 466 yards at a 155 average per game and scored seven of his ten rushing touchdowns.

When the Buffaloes got within10 points in the fourth quarter it was Kelley who put the game away, churning out 43 of the Bruins’ 48 yards the final 35 on one run to score their final touchdown.

Play of the Game

The play of the game belonged to quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson, who put the Bruins up 17-0 in the first quarter with an outstanding throw. After the Bruins Krys Barnes intercepted a pass the Bruins took over on the Buffaloes 45 yard line.

On the very first play, Thompson-Robinson found a streaking Ethan Fernea threw the air on a diving catch in the endzone for the touchdown. Thompson-Robinson had his most accurate game of the season completing 75 percent of his passes after starting off 10 for 11 on the game. Thompson-Robinson had two touchdowns in the air in the first quarter setting a tone for the rest of the game.

Moving Forward

The Bruins have a bye this coming week and then face the Utah Utes with a chance to get the inside track to represent the south division in the Pac-12 Championship game. If the Bruins defeat the Utes when they face off in Utah and stay undefeated the rest of the way then the division is theirs.

Next. It's Gerrit Cole or bust for the Dodgers. dark

This is quite a difference to just a few weeks ago when the UCLA football team was 1-5 and seemingly headed for another ugly season. A three-game winning streak and the Bruins are in contention to have their best season during the Chip Kelley era.
