Los Angeles Dodgers: The dream Corey Seager trade scenario
By Jason Reed
The results:
The Los Angeles Dodgers would be taking the best player from each of the last two teams to defeat them in the postseason and that is just fine as the lineup it would create would be absolutely phenomenal.

We already worked out how the defense would look in the infield and in the outfield the Dodgers would move Bellinger to center, play Betts in right and have A.J. Pollock and Alex Verdugo platooning in left field.
The team would still have Enrique Hernandez and Chris Taylor to provide utility depth (assuming they don’t get traded) as well as corner infield depth in Edwin Rios and Matt Beaty. They are still a backup catcher short, but with the rosters expanding to 26, a five-man bench of Hernandez, Taylor, Rios, Beaty and say, Russell Martin, is not so bad.
The lineup is where it gets scary good. The Dodgers love to shift players around and have not been traditional with the way they have used the lead-off hitter, so it can be hard to predict exactly how Dave Roberts would order the lineup.
Here is a look at how the lineup could look, at least if I was the only filling out the lineup card.
- 1st: Betts
- 2nd: Turner
- 3rd: Bellinger
- 4th: Rendon
- 5th: Muncy
- 6th: Pollock/Verdugo
- 7th: Smith
- 8th: Lux
That lineup is terrifying. That 1-4 would undoubtedly be the best in baseball and the Dodgers would be getting their power-hitting lead-off guy while also getting someone that is actually fast.
What is scary about this is it can be even better if the young players produce. Gavin Lux tore the cover off the ball in the minors this season and could easily be a .280 hitter with 25 home runs and 75 RBIs this season to be in the Rookie of the Year race.
Verdugo was very poised and consistent in his rookie year and will only get better and A.J. Pollock looked unstoppable when he was hot. If Will Smith can just do 80 percent of what he did last year before his slump then the Dodgers would not have a single easy out in the lineup, aside from the pitcher.
At the end of the day, this probably just be a dream scenario as something like this is far too good to be true. That lineup looks like a lineup I would create as a kid on Playstation.
