The Los Angeles Kings are in a bleak situation right now but you can still enjoy Kings-style hockey with their AHL affiliate, the Ontario Reign.

Things have not been great for the Los Angeles Kings the last two seasons. After a disappointingly loss finish last season, the Kings have not been able to turn things around this season and are enjoying the same slow start.

The Kings rank last in the Pacific Division with a 5-11-1 record and are tied with the Detroit Red Wings for the fewest points in the NHL this season (11).

With how bad the Kings have been playing, it is understandable if King fans do not want to go see their team in person. In fact, attendance has been down as the Kings are averaging 17,111 fans per game this season (93.9 percent).

To put that into perspective, this is the first time since the 2011-2012 season that the Kings are averaging under 18,000 fans per game (albeit in a small sample size).

If this attendance figure holds, it will be the lowest attendance for the Kings since the 2008-2009 season.

If you still want to experience Kings hockey without the fear of witnessing an embarrassing game, there is actually a cheaper alternative just down the freeway with the Ontario Reign, the Kings’ AHL affiliate.

The Reign is hosting Los Angeles Kings night this Friday, November 15 against the San Diego Gulls—the Anaheim Ducks’ AHL affiliate. It is a promo night as well, as the Reign are giving away co-branded umbrellas and $2 beer cans.

The best part? It is a pretty cheap alternative to the Kings and presents a much more family-friendly environment than a professional game can present at times.

To be completely transparent, we actually have discounted tickets available. I am in a sports marketing class at California State University, Fullerton, and we are partnering with the Reign to spread the word and sell some tickets.

I have been allocated 20 tickets at $16 each (plus fees, comes out to ~$20). The game is almost sold out already and tickets in the same section are going for $23 each on the Reign website.

With FanSided’s permission, I am writing this column to let you know about the game, about the discounted price and actually give you the opportunity to purchase some tickets, if you are interested.

We have a specialized link to track our group sales, so if you are interested in attending, click here. Ticket sales close this Wednesday, November 13, so be sure to purchase before if you are interested!

Next. The Kings' bad October, by the numbers. dark
