The Los Angeles Rams were on primetime at home for the second week in a row and this time around were mauled by one of the NFL’s best teams.

The Los Angeles Rams‘ season ended earlier than it had in the last two years on Monday night. The Baltimore Ravens and their quarterback, Lamar Jackson, obliterated the Rams 45-6 to drop the Rams to 6-5, two games behind the Minnesota Vikings in the wild-card standings.

The Rams were their usual inept selves on offense, producing just 22 yards rushing and quarterback Jared Goff could do little to keep them in the game throwing for 199 yards with two interceptions.

The Rams’ defense was even worse giving up 481 total yards and 31 first downs to the Raven offense. Jackson showcased his talents before a national television audience once again solidifying his case for league MVP.

Jackson was 15 of 20 with just 169 yards through the air but he torched the Rams throwing five touchdowns and used his feet running for 95 yards on just eight carries.

The Rams’ defense could do nothing to stop Jackson and the Ravens, allowing them to go 6 for 6 on possessions as they scored six touchdowns before the Rams finally stopped them with 6:35 left in the fourth quarter, giving up “only” a field goal.

The Rams’ defense gave up 288 yards on the ground, a horrible output for a team who was fifth in rushing defense coming into the game. It was their worst performance since 2011 when they gave up 294, and their worst performance in LA since giving up 301 in 1981.

After such a terrible performance it would be difficult to see a path where the Los Angeles Rams can get back to the playoffs. Since starting the season 3-0, the Rams have now gone 3-5 and finish the season with four out of five games against their division opponents.

The Rams are 0-2 so far in the season against their division opponents their other game is against the Dallas Cowboys, who remain in the playoff hunt.

Even though they have three games remaining at home, they only have a little bit of an advantage as they are just 3-3 at home.

Coach Sean McVay’s third season is not going as it has in the past. After winning 24 games across his first two seasons, winning the NFC West both times, the Rams are a shell of their former selves. McVay has been unable to turn things around. A year after finishing second in the league in total offense the Rams are limping to the finish line in 24th.

Another performance like Monday night’s and the Los Angeles Rams can start planning their off-season vacations.
