3. Francisco Lindor

This is the player that every Dodger fan has been talking about as the idea of Francisco Lindor being the Los Angeles Dodgers’ shortstop of the future is an intriuging one. The narrative here is simple: Lindor is soon set to get a massive contract and the small-market Cleveland Indians won’t be able to afford it.

Personally, I am highly skeptical that a Lindor trade would happen this winter, not just with the Dodgers, but with any team in baseball. Sure, the Indians don’t have the funds to sign him to one of these massive contracts but they have two more seasons with Lindor to figure it out.

If anything, Lindor should play this season with the Indians then be on the trade block next winter, but perhaps the Indians want to get more by trading Lindor this winter, who knows.

The initial dream scenario was to trade Corey Seager for Lindor, which personally, I did not see the massive appeal of as Lindor is not a massive upgrade from Seager at all. However, recent rumors have emerged that the Indians are targeting middle-infield prospect Gavin Lux, not Seager.

This makes sense as the Indians would be silly to trade two years of Lindor for two years of Seager, only to not re-sign him for the very same reason as Lindor. Lux provides more team control and longevity.

I still do not think it is that likely but I would not be shocked if the Los Angeles Dodgers included Lux as the headliner for Lindor, especially if the team does not land Anthony Rendon, Gerrit Cole or any of the other big names this winter.

Either Seager or Lindor could move to second base and it would give the Dodgers the traditional speedy lead-off guy while also maintaining the power atop the order.
