Los Angeles Dodgers: Which star acquisition would help the most
By Jason Reed
The impact of Stephen Strasburg:
This one was the most strange to me. Despite being a lower overall pitcher on the video game and arguably being the worse starting pitcher in real life, the Los Angeles Dodgers experienced much more success with Strasburg on the Dodgers than Gerrit Cole.

That is why we should probably run a simulation for each player 10 times and find the average amount of wins and how far they went in the season, but just doing these four simulations were a lot.
But hey, maybe the video game knows something we don’t know and Cole will be a worse pitcher once he leaves Houston (although we won the Cy Young in our simulation with him).
It really boils down to the fact that the Dodgers’ offense performed better in this simulation than the last, which is strange because everything was the same. The Dodgers went 102-60 with Strasburg, which is a 19-game improvement from what they did with Cole.
Strasburg made Kershaw pitch better as Kershaw was the Cy Young with a 2.41 ERA and 21-5 record. Strasburg himself was not all that great with a 3.89 ERA and 11-11 record.
The Dodgers swept the Braves in the NLDS and took on the Chicago Cubs in the NLCS. Yet again the Dodgers were stopped short of the World Series, losing the NLCS in seven games without blowing a series lead.
So in terms of distance the team went in the playoffs, the best moves were Mookie Betts and Stephen Strasburg. In terms of wins, it was Anthony Rendon.
