The Los Angeles Rams had a huge win on Sunday night over the Seattle Seahawks and exponentially increased their playoff odds.

A lot of people gave up on the Los Angeles Rams, and I will be honest, I was one of those people. Even in the wins, the Rams offense just didn’t look the same and with the NFC being so top-heavy it appeared as if the hole that was huge was already too big.

A 45-6 loss to the Baltimore Ravens two weeks ago appeared to be the dagger in the Rams’ heart. However, after winning two in a row and getting help with the Seahawks beating the Vikings, the team is back in it.

The Rams trail the Vikings by one game for the second wild-card spot with three games to go. The final three games for the Rams are against the Dallas Cowboys, San Francisco 49ers and Arizona Cardinals.

The Cardinals should be a win as the Rams always dominate them, the Cowboys should be a win as they have not beaten a playoff team, although it is nowhere close to a guarantee. The 49ers present a very tough game, especially now that the 49ers have a good shot of locking down home-field advantage.

Either way, the Los Angeles Rams are going to have to get some help from the Vikings as if they win out the Rams will be one game shy. The Vikings play the Los Angeles Chargers, Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears.

The Chargers have talent but are the unluckiest team in the league. But hey, every game is close with the Chargers and they could easily shock the Vikings. The Vikings already beat the Packers this year but they still present a big challenge and the Chicago Bears are either terrible or great, all depending on how Mitchell Trubisky plays.

The question becomes how many losses the Vikings have in the final three games, thus telling us how many games the Los Angeles Rams.

Unfortunately for Los Angeles, they are likely going to have to win out to get the sixth NFC playoff spot as it is hard to see the Vikings losing more than one of those games.

While the Chargers are talented and sneaky dangerous, they have nothing to play for and that will ultimately be the difference in a close game that they blow late. As for the Bears, at this point in the season, they will be out of the playoff hunt.

There is no way the Bears beat the Packers and the Chiefs. While they will want to play spoiler, they won’t have any playoff implications.

I think if the Vikings lose any game in the final three it will be against the Packers. With a one-game lead, that forces the Rams to win the last three.

That will be enough to get the sixth and final seed because of tiebreakers. In this scenario, the Vikings would finish with an 8-4 conference record and the Rams would finish with a 9-3 conference record.

Even if the Vikings beat the Packers and lose to the Chargers, thus having the same conference record, the Rams would have the edge as their strength of schedule and strength of victory are both much higher.

The important part is that the Los Angeles Rams have a chance and if they continue to play like they did tonight, then it might be a good chance.
