3. Dodgers re-sign Three-Headed Monster

In the winter of 2016, the Los Angeles Dodgers, over a month period, re-signed starting pitcher Rich Hill for three-years, third basemen Justin Turner for four-years, and closer Kenley Jansen for five years, retaining three important pieces that would turn the 2017 season into a historic one.

All three players had an impact on the Dodgers season as they set a franchise record 104 wins since moving to Los Angeles. Turner and Jansen played in the All-Star Game, with Turner making it as the fan-voted last member of the roster.

Rich Hill threw a nine-inning no-hit game only lose the game 1-0 in the 10th inning when the Dodgers couldn’t score any runs. All three players made an impact in the playoffs as Hill threw 17 2/3 innings giving up just five runs, Jansen struck out 20 batters over 15 2/3 innings and set a postseason record with five saves in one postseason.

Turner was arguably the best hitter for the Dodgers that season finishing third in batting average (.322) in the NL that year, in the playoffs Turner was even better hitting .462 in the NLDS and being named Co-MVP of the NLCS hitting two home runs and driving in seven batters. As a collective, the shrewd re-signing of the group was more than worth it.
