Trade #3: A familiar face to make room for a free agent

This is the least likely route I think the Dodgers would take, however, if they have plans of bringing in an infield free agent then I could see the team being willing to make this kind of trade.

More from LA Sports Hub

This trade is different from the last in two ways. First, the Minnesota Twins are included in this instead of the White Sox. I don’t think the White Sox would want to bring in multiple years of Pollock at a higher AAV than Pederson is getting in his one year.

However, the Minnesota Twins, who could use one more outfielder and are absolutely contenders, could benefit from a right-handed bat like Pollock to add to the offense. For their role in taking on all of Pollock’s contract, the Dodgers would also package a young, big-league ready arm that is in purgatory on the Dodgers, Dennis Santana.

The second, and more notable thing, is that the Dodgers would be trading Corey Seager away. Nightengale wrote in his article that the Dodgers included Seager in talks with the Indians and Red Sox and perhaps that is the cost for Boston.

Seager and Xander Bogaerts would make up the middle infield and the Red Sox would still get that one year option of Pederson as well as the Dodgers’ third-best promising young arm, Tony Gonsolin.

As much as I like Gonsolin, he is probably the seventh-best starting pitcher on the Dodgers.

This opens the door to add to the infield as well, which is where the Dodgers could bring in Josh Donaldson. Again, I think it is unlikely, but this could give the Dodgers their answer at third base once Turner’s contract expires.

This could move Turner to first and Max Muncy to second with Gavin Lux taking over shortstop duties. Suddenly, a team that is lacking right-handed bats would be much more balanced.

The lineup could then be Alex Verdugo, Justin Turner, Mookie Betts, Cody Bellinger, Josh Donaldson, Max Muncy, Will Smith and Gavin Lux.

That is a much more balanced lineup, and while the Dodgers won’t be getting a pitcher, I think they would be just fine in having Clayton Kershaw, Walker Buehler, Kenta Maeda, Julio Urias and Dustin May.
