The Los Angeles Dodgers have been rumored for several different superstars this winter, but of the rumored names, Kris Bryant makes the most sense.

Fans are waiting for the Los Angeles Dodgers to do something this winter as the team has been inactive outside of signing Blake Treinen to a one-year contract. Both Andrew Friedman and Dave Roberts have commented that the team is pursuing elite stars and could experience some sort of shake-up, but nothing yet has happened.

That has led to the hope that the Dodgers will bring in a marquee superstar via trade, with the two biggest names being Mookie Betts and Francisco Lindor. However, with every passing day, it feels less and less likely that the Dodgers will actually make that marquee move for either Lindor or Betts.

The other big superstar that has been speculated to be on the trade market is Kris Bryant, however, Bryant has not had any real ties with the Dodgers yet this offseason. And while nothing has been reported (at the time of writing this), the idea of the Dodgers trading for Bryant is being explored online and actually makes a lot of sense.

Anthony Castrovince of MLB.com predicted that the Dodgers would trade for Bryant in his 20 bold predictions for 2020. Again, no reports of the Dodgers exploring trades for Bryant, but maybe that is a positive sign as the Dodgers always seem to work in silence.

When evaluating what Bryant brings to the table, it has become pretty apparent that he would be a much better fit on the Los Angeles Dodgers than Lindor or Betts for a multitude of reasons.

First of all, Bryant would be the long-term replacement for Justin Turner (assuming they re-sign Bryant) at third base. Turner’s contract expires after this season and this would give the Dodgers a head start on finding a replacement, a head start on negotiating a contract and would allow Turner, whose fielding has significantly dropped off, to move to first base.

More importantly, Bryant fits the versatility bill that the Dodgers value so much and could even provide innings in the outfield as well. Bryant has logged over 1,000 innings in the outfield, mostly in left field and right field.

That would be huge as in adding another infielder Dodgers are creating a surplus, which is always a great problem to have. This will help combat things such as injuries and when everyone is healthy, the Dodgers could play Bryant in the outfield to create the best possible lineup.

That could include having Bryant in left field against left-handed pitching, while having him at third base against right-handed pitching with Joc Pederson in left field. It also helps the team establish rotational off-days, which helps with the grind of the regular season.

Versatility seems to be the number one thing that the Los Angeles Dodgers value in adding new players, making Kris Bryant more valuable than Mookie Betts and Francisco Lindor.
