Now that a disappointing season for the Los Angeles Rams has come to a close, a very important offseason is looming for the team. How do you deal with the team’s needs, and the salary cap problem?

The Los Angeles Rams missed the playoffs for the first time under head coach Sean McVay, and there are lots of questions surrounding the team, and what is next. With no 1st round draft pick and almost no salary room, what can be done to turn this team back into a winner?

The first thing that has to be done is an attempt to bring in some help on the offensive line. The o-line struggles were one of the biggest contributing factors to the Rams’ difficulties this past season. Since there is not much money to work with, any outside personal brought in will have to be done with trades.

The Rams have a few trade pieces that would help bring new players in and create more cap space. The tricky part is are other teams going to want to take on the contracts that these players already have. Some possible trade pieces for L.A. would be guys like, Malcolm Brown, Brandin Cooks, or maybe eve tight end Gerald Everett.

Malcolm Brown can be a legitimate RB1 in this league given enough reps, but he won’t get them in L.A. so trading him could be the best option for him and the team. Brandin Cooks is going to be a tough one to trade away.

He is owed a big contract through 2023 and has had troubles with concussions and injuries along the way. Healthy he is a dynamic receiver and would be a valuable trade chip, but with injuries and all the money he is owed it is going to be tough getting good value for him.

Gerald Everett could also be an option for L.A. to trade away. With Tyler Higbee taking over the role as the number one option at tight end for the Rams, you could try to get some value for Everett.

He has had some great games in L.A. however this past year he struggled, dropping more passes, and dealing with more injuries, which makes it hard to get as much value for him. There has been talk of the Rams trying to deal Tyler Higbee instead but with his big contract, and the fact that he seems to be one of Jared Goff‘s favorite targets, it looks like he is going to stay.

The Rams also have some troubles to address on defense, particularly in their secondary. Of course, they are going to have to pay Jalen Ramsey a big contract, but there is a big problem with who is playing on the other side of Ramsey.

Troy Hill, the Rams’ other cornerback, got exposed time and time again this year. Ramsey did not pose as big of a threat for offenses because teams could very easily just go to the other side. This could be something that the team looks to address via the draft.

The biggest thing for the Los Angeles Rams this offseason is to unload as many guys that are not going to be a part of the foundation of the team moving forward as you can. This will help make it possible to keep a good collection of talent in L.A. and keep them competitive until some of these contracts are done.

Next. The most mind-boggling thing from 2020. dark

I don’t think that the Los Angeles Rams are done, and I think it is very possible for them to be contenders again next year. However, this will undoubtedly be the most important offseason for the Rams in the McVay era.
