The Los Angeles Clippers got absolutely demolished by the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday and the overreactions started to flood in.

The Los Angeles Clippers were touted as one of the best teams in the league heading into this season, with many (even outside of the fanbase) expecting the Clippers to be the team to hoist the Larry O’Brien Trophy after the NBA Finals.

And with all things considered, the Clippers have lived up to that hype thus far. The year is still very young but the Clippers have had some impressive wins this season are among the few teams thus far that look to have a legitimate chance of winning the NBA Title.

All of that came crashing down on Saturday, or at least that it is what it seemed like based on the reactions when the Clippers were thoroughly beaten by the Memphis Grizzlies. The Grizzlies went into Los Angeles and beat the Clippers by 26, giving them their most embarrassing loss of the season.

Heck, even Montrezl Harrell said after the game that the Clippers are not a great team yet, citing that they are a new group of guys who just started playing together with two new superstar faces. That is absolutely true and is a very fair point.

But c’mon now, the overreactions over one loss are absolutely ridiculous. It was an ugly loss where the role players played pretty atrociously. The one saving grace that the Clippers had is that Paul George was out, but he is not even their best player.

There is no denying that this was an ugly game for the Clippers but going out and acting like this is going to matter in May when the playoffs are underway is a vast overstatement. This is a January basketball game, one of 82 throughout the season. This is like the Los Angeles Dodgers freaking out if they lose two games in a row in the middle of June.

The Clippers are not a finished product right now, it is absolutely fair to say that and it is fair to say that the team played poorly on Saturday. However, these issues are not going to translate whatsoever to the playoffs and there are no underlying storylines that need to be worried about.

Kawhi Leonard went into Toronto with a group of guys that he had never played with before and made it work. And what do you know, Leonard and the Raptors got red-hot at the right time and won the franchise’s only NBA Championship.

Why the Clippers shouldn't make a trade this season. dark. Next

The Los Angeles Clippers are a much better team than last year’s Raptors. Just remember that next time the Clippers lose an ugly game because it will happen again. It happens to every great team and is not the end of the world.
