3. Arden Key

This is another case of the Oakland Raiders trading a former third-round pick either for more draft capital in this year’s draft or as part of a bigger deal, say for Brandin Cooks. While it seems foolish for the Raiders to trade someone they just selected two years ago in the third round, Arden Key is nothing more than a depth piece right now and could be replaced by Vegas.

The Raiders had two rookies starting at defensive end in 2019 in Maxx Crosby and Clelin Ferrell, both of which were selected due to the massive hole at the position with Khalil Mack. That leaves Key with no real path to the starting lineup except as a fill-in for injury, as neither Crosby or Ferrell or going anywhere.

As someone with a cheap contract that is under contract for another two years, he would make a lot of sense for the Los Angeles Rams to help improve the edge-rush on the defensive line, which is going to regress without Dante Fowler Jr.

The Rams would not expect Key to be a massive difference-maker right away but he has shown that he has the ability and playing alongside Aaron Donald is only going to make his job easier.

Key totaled 20 combined sacks in 58 games with LSU, where he was in a 3-4 defensive scheme. Key’s playstyle fits much better as a 3-4 outside linebacker, which has not been tapped into in the Raiders’ 4-3 defensive scheme.

The Las Vegas Raiders are not giving Key the chances he needs to be successful and a team like the Los Angeles Rams, who play his ideal defensive scheme and have the best defensive lineman in the league, would be the best thing to ever happen to him.
