Los Angeles Rams: 3 players that have to perform in 2020
By Jason Reed
3. Jared Goff
The most obvious player on this list, the player that needs to perform well for the sake of the team as well as the sake of the Rams’ front office is Jared Goff. Without him, this entire team and plan fall apart and the Rams will fall back into the pit of mediocrity.

The Rams could still be a playoff team if Jalen Ramsey is not an All-Pro corner and certainly can be a playoff team if Darrell Henderson does not make an impact in year two. The Rams will not be a playoff team without a solid season out of Jared Goff.
Goff needs to be better than he was in 2019, although the concerns over him have been slightly overstated. Is he being overpaid? Absolutely, but that is the nature of the situation and the Rams had to sign him to a massive extension.
Is he this awful quarterback that cannot win a Super Bowl that some fans think he is? Not at all. Dan Marino is the only other quarterback in NFL history to throw for as many yards and touchdowns in years 2-4 as Goff and if you historically look at some of the best quarterbacks of this generation, they all had high interception totals early in their career.
Goff played behind a terrible offensive line and that was a big reason for his struggles in 2019. The front office has to do its job of giving Goff a better offensive line and Goff has to return the favor and be better in 2020 than he was in 2019.
It might be unfair, but Goff has the pressure of the entire franchise on his back and has everyone in the NFL media closely watching him. The Los Angeles Rams cannot succeed without him.
