Trade package 2:

Los Angeles Rams trade 2020 second-round pick, 2021 sixth-round pick

The other option that the Los Angeles Rams have, which is the far more common method of trading in the NFL, is to trade the team’s best draft pick from this season. The Los Angeles Rams do not have a first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft because of the Jalen Ramsey trade, and after this, they would not pick until the third round.

The initial reaction to this from a Ram fan might be no way. Draft picks are valued very high in the NFL and oftentimes the immediate reaction to trading those picks is outrage, as fans can always play the “what if” game with who the Rams could have selected.

The fact of the matter is that the Rams’ chances of landing a difference-maker like Turner in the second round, especially one that can have the same kind of impact in year one, is slim. Could they find a gem? Absolutely, but Turner is a surefire thing and they know for sure what they are getting.

The team would still have the third and later rounds to address other areas of the team but there are not that many holes on the roster outside of the offensive line. Because of that, this makes a potential Turner trade even easier to pull the trigger on.

Sure, the Rams run the risk of trading a second-round pick and long-term option for a short-term option in Turner. But at the end of the day, this is a front office that has proven that they are not afraid to trade picks away and if they can get a Pro Bowl-caliber guard for a second-round pick then they will jump on it.

The title-window for an NFL team is small, the Los Angeles Rams know this. They have been aggressive before, I would not be surprised to see them be aggressive again.
