Rams: Antonio Brown in Seattle would trigger fireworks
By Ryan Heckman
One of the Rams’ division rivals could end up signing free agent and oft-troubled receiver Antonio Brown, and if it happens, watch out.
Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey has been able to shut down just about every wide receiver he has faced in his young NFL career. Of those, he’s made it crystal clear which ones he not only disliked, but did not respect.
Ramsey is known for his trash talking and, sometimes, an inability to recognize talented players. He’s verbally throttled multiple quarterbacks and spoken out about some highly-touted receivers in the past. He once got into the head of A.J. Green so bad that Green took him down around the neck following a play.
NFL great Steve Smith was also singled out by Ramsey late in his career after being shut down when Ramsey was still in a Jaguars uniform:
"“He’s still a good player. I’ll say that about him. But I don’t respect him as a man,” Ramsey told reporters after the game."
Needless to say, Ramsey has won the majority of battles on the field over his career, thus his justifiable right to talk a little trash. But, the one guy he has never talked down about — Antonio Brown — may have a chance to re-ignite the battle.
Recently, a video surfaced of Brown working out with Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson. This video was accompanied by Brown asking, “Who would like to see this on Sundays?”
For one, Rams fans might not want to see this, but it sure would be entertaining. Ramsey vs. Brown twice a year? Sign me up.
The Seahawks already have a budding young wideout in D.K. Metcalf, who came on strong during the second half of his rookie year. Tyler Lockett is a stud when he’s at full health. If you add in Brown, that’s one heck of a receiving trio.
But there is no doubt who Ramsey would be covering in those two games against the Seahawks — it’s Brown.
Ramsey has shut him down in the past, but Brown did indeed get the best of him on one particular occasion when he caught 10 passes for 157 yards a couple of years ago.
While most of this is still speculation, there was a report a little over a week ago which stated that the Seahawks and Ravens have discussed signing Brown. The veteran wideout faces possible suspension from a long list of issues over the last year and a half, but should he end up being allowed to play at any point in the near future, it would be a blast to watch him against the Rams.
