Alex Caruso

One of the players that will likely have to step up with Rondo out will be point guard Alex Caruso. Due to the Lakers now having both Bradley and Rondo out, someone is going to have to take those minutes.

This season, Caruso has seen an expanded role with the Lakers. Even though he was in the G-League too long ago, Caruso has found a way to carve out a nice role on the team. Caruso has been really strong on the defensive end of the court for the Lakers, and that is going to get out minutes on a Frank Vogel team.

Offensively, Caruso is good without the basketball in his hands, as he has a high basketball IQ and knows where to be on the floor. Unfortunately, we haven’t seen Caruso be able to be much of a playmaker when he is on the court.

Caruso isn’t your prototypical point guard, but he plays well with LeBron James already. James likes having people around him that he can trust, and Caruso seems like one of those guys. With a great ability to shutdown people on the defensive end of the court, Caruso should certainly be seeing a minute increase.
