Chargers Defender Calls Out Chiefs Star as KC Returns to Super Bowl
By Cem Yolbulan
The Los Angeles Chargers took a serious step forward this season, more than doubling their win total from 2023 and finishing with an 11-6 record. They lost to the Texans in the Wild-Card Round of the playoffs, but Chargers fans are happy with the progress the team showed in Jim Harbaugh's first season as the head coach.
At the same time, it has still been a bittersweet season. Their bitter AFC West rivals, the Kansas City Chiefs just made their third straight Super Bowl and are favorites to complete the historic three-peat.
Just like most of the country, the Bolts were laser-focused on the AFC Championship Game on Sunday. Veteran safety Tony Jefferson didn't like what he saw in terms of officiating and called out Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. He posted on social media during the game about how Kelce can "do whatever" without ever getting flagged.

The most egregious example of this came late in the second quarter. After Patrick Mahomes scored a rushing touchdown to put Kansas City up 20-10, Kelce got in Bills safety Damar Hamlin's face and taunted him. Instead of the usual 15-yard penalty for taunting, no flag was thrown, drawing the ire of many football fans, including Jefferson.
The biased officiating has long been a major talking point during the Chiefs' postseason run. The Texans had serious complaints about the referees after the Divisional Round, and there were plenty of controversial calls going in Kansas City's favor against the Bills.
Seeing what we were all seeing, Tony Jefferson was just pointing out the obvious.
