The Los Angeles Dodgers looked to extend their lead in a series that has them destined for their second World Series appearance in five years as the Boys in Blue battled the New York Mets at Citi Field with a stacked house looking to witness an incredible showing.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto stepped on the mound for Game 4. The last time he had played against the Mets was a nine-strikeout outing in six innings with seven hits and four runs allowed on April 19. This time around, Yamamoto pitched for four innings where he allowed four hits but struck out the lineup eight times as the Boys in Blue came out as heavy as they did in game three.

Shohei Ohtani has had a lot of success when runners are on base, however, it has not been the same luck when he is the leadoff man. That was not the case tonight when Sho Time punched his first hit of the game into the stands to give the Dodgers their first run of the game against a New York team that has been through it all.

At the top of the third inning, the Dodgers needed to break up the tie and did so in their kind of fashion as they had two men on base and a Tommy Edman hit into center field. Enrique Hernandez put another reason as to why he is the new Mr. October when he turned a single to turn it into a 3-1 game against the Mets.

Max Muncy has been a huge test subject for the Mets bullpen walking him every chance they get. In this series so far, New York has walked the Dodgers over twenty-four times with eight of them for the third basemen who made history with twelve consecutive appearances on base. This tied Reggie Jackson for the most consecutive postseason plate appearances.

Mookie Betts had himself a game to remember when he cleared the bases in the top of the fourth inning before he came back in the top of the sixth where Betts brought Ohtani home again. This time it was a crisp home run deep into left field to extend the lead for the Dodgers.

The Dodgers bullpen made a lot of excellent decisions tonight in crucial moments with bases loaded as Yamamoto finished his four innings. Evan Phillips, Blake Treinen, and Edgardo Henriquez then put the brakes on New York's offense to prevent any lead changes. Los Angeles did not have to worry about anything but hitting dingers and robbing them too.

In the end, another blowout win would be the result of Game 4 as the Boys in Blue walked out with back-to-back dubs and a shot at a final win awaiting them in enemy territory as they hope to punch their ticket to a second World Series in five years.
