As we approach the final stretch of the NFL season, teams around the league are making roster moves, either to set themselves up for the postseason or to evaluate their roster for next season. As a result, we end up seeing a ton of transactions which include former Chargers finding new homes.

On Wednesday, a former Chargers draft bust signed with a new team. The third-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Tre' McKitty signed with the Cleveland Browns practice squad, per Akron Beacon Journal's Chris Easterling.

NFL News: Former Chargers TE Tre' McKitty Signs With the Browns

The Browns will be McKitty's second NFL team since being released by the Bolts in the middle of the 2023 season. He was picked up by the Buffalo Bills after that but didn't make an appearance with the team before being released as part of final roster cuts before the 2024 campaign.

McKitty will now look to establish his NFL career on the 3-10 Browns. Cleveland has been one of the biggest disappointments this season and is trying to evaluate their roster for next year. They have David Njoku as their TE1 with Jordan Akins and Blake Whiteheart backing him up. Akins is nearing the end of his career and Whiteheart is an undrafted, unproven tight end.

McKitty has a chance to beat his competition in the final stretch of the season and make an argument to be a part of the team for next season.

The 25-year-old was a standout tight end at Florida State and Georgia before entering the NFL. He was never able to get his career off the ground as he finished his Chargers tenure with 16 catches, 117 yards, and zero touchdowns in 34 games. He is hoping that things will be a little different for him in Cleveland.
