It Took One Game For Rams to Regret Missed Trade Opportunity
It has been a wild eight weeks for the Los Angeles Rams. They have been slammed with multiple injuries to key starters that led to a shaky start to the season.
Los Angeles entered Week 8 with a 2-4 record but got some reinforcements. Receivers Cooper Kupp and Puka Nucua returned to the field. That gave Los Angeles a much-needed boost and they secured a 30-20 win over the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday Night Football.
Now that they are sitting at 3-4 and the positive vibes have returned to the building, Los Angeles missed their window to make a massive trade.
Rams News: Sean McVay Expects Los Angeles To Keep Cooper Kupp
Kupp's name has been involved in the trade talks for the past week. That isn't shocking though, as we've seen multiple star receivers get shipped out lately.
Davante Adams and Amari Cooper were both acquired for third-round picks. Meanwhile, the Chiefs acquired DeAndre Hopkins from the Tennessee Titans for a fifth-round pick that can rise to a fourth-round pick.
The ideal trade compensation for a WR who is 30-plus ranges from a third to a fifth-rounder. The Rams had a chance to move off Kupp before he stepped back on the field, but they decided to stand pat.
After a Week 8 victory, the Rams are seeking to make a playoff push, and head coach Sean McVay alluded to Kupp sticking with the team after the game.
"I'm really glad to have Cooper Kupp back with us and I expect it to stay that way."
- Sean McVay
In the win, Kupp had five catches for 51 yards and one touchdown. He's been a consistent playmaker in Los Angeles for the past eight years and it appears that will continue. Whether they regret this decision remains to be seen.
