Rams Officially Punt on Season in Blockbuster Projected Trade
It's been rough sledding for the Los Angeles Rams after seven weeks. They are 2-4 but have been hammered by injuries, especially on the offensive side.
The Rams have been without Cooper Kupp, Puka Nucua, Tyler Higbee, Jonah Jackson, and Steve Avila for an extended period of time.
They are currently sitting in last place in the NFC West and are willing to be sellers at the trade deadline.
Rams News: Los Angeles Willing to Trade Cooper Kupp
According to The Athletic's Dianna Russini, the Rams are open to trading away receiver Cooper Kupp. The Rams are even willing to take on some of his 2024 salary in order to receive a 2nd-round pick.
Kupp has a $29 million cap hit, according to Spotrac, which is a hefty number. The 31-year-old is one of the best route runners and playmakers in the league when he's healthy. In his career, Kupp has 585 receptions (819 targets) for 7,213 receiving yards and 52 touchdowns. He's gone over 1,000 yards twice and notched All-Pro honors in 2021.
The last two seasons in Los Angeles have been littered with injuries and the Rams are finally willing to move on from expensive players.
How much money they are willing to eat will indicate to teams how serious they are about moving on from Kupp. Davante Adams and Amari Cooper were both traded last week for third-round picks.
Los Angeles wants to top that and secure a second-rounder. They have two weeks to facilitate a deal and gauge Kupp's trade value around the league. The expectation is that Kupp will have teams willing to trade for him but let's see if someone bites with a second-round pick.
