Sitting at 8-4 heading into the final five weeks of the season, the Los Angeles Chargers are a good bet to make the postseason. The main reason behind the massive success in Jim Harbaugh's first year in charge has been the defense. The Bolts currently have the best defensive unit in the league, allowing the fewest points in the NFL.

To make matters even more promising for the Chargers heading into the final stretch of the season, they are about to get healthier. Rookie defender Junior Colson, who has been sidelined since Week 9, is getting ready to make his return. Per Jim Harbaugh, the team is opening the 21-day activation window for the third-round pick.

Chargers LB Junior Colson Getting Ready to Return

Colson spent three seasons in Michigan under Harbaugh before being drafted by the Chargers. His rookie campaign hasn't gone according to the plan so far as the 21-year-old struggled in his six appearances while dealing with injuries at the same time. He has a 39.2 grade on PFF, one of the worst marks in the league.

He was placed on injured reserve with an ankle injury following the Week 9 game against the Browns. Since then, Troy Dye and Nick Niemann have been seeing an expanded role in the rotation. Whether Colson will be entrusted with the same number of snaps he had before the injury remains to be seen but Harbaugh must be thrilled to have more depth in his already elite defensive unit.
