Faulk will be joining Deion Sanders’ coaching staff in Boulder. Sanders’ staff this past season featured multiple former NFL players (Warren Sapp, Phil Loadholt, Dennis Thurman, Damione Lewis).
Colorado is also reportedly bringing on former NFL offensive lineman Andre Gurode, who played his college ball with the Buffaloes. Unlike Faulk, Gurode has coaching experience in the NFL and XFL with the Dallas Cowboys, Houston Roughnecks, and San Antonio Brahmas.
As for the 51-year-old Faulk, he’ll be taking over for Gary Harrell who was the assistant head coach/RBs coach this past season.
Although Faulk has no coaching experience, he has a ton of playing experience and is one of the best college and NFL running backs in history. He spent the last seven years of his career with the Rams after playing five seasons with the Indianapolis Colts.
The Colts drafted Faulk with the second overall pick in the 1994 NFL Draft out of San Diego State University.
With the Rams, Faulk played an integral role on the Best Show on Turf teams between 1999 and 2001. St. Louis made two Super Bowl appearances during those three years, including a Super Bowl XXXIV win over the Tennessee Titans.
The veteran running back had an outstanding career as a Ram, rushing for 6,959 yards and 58 touchdowns. Faulk was also a factor in the receiving game with 470 receptions for 4,071 yards and 27 touchdowns.
Faulk also was named to the Pro Bowl four times, won Offensive Player of the Year three times, and made first-team All-Pro three times.
