The 2024-25 NBA season is right around the corner as teams start their training camps this week. On Monday, teams, including the Los Angeles Lakers, had their media days where they introduced new signings.

Unfortunately, however, not every NBA player was fortunate enough. Despite the start of the season being only three weeks away, there are still free agents waiting for their phones to ring. On this list of still-available free agents on the market, there are a few familiar faces. These are the former Lakers who are still looking to sign their next NBA contract.

Lance Stephenson

When Lance Stephenson signed with the Lakers in the 2018 offseason, it was met with a ton of surprise. During his Indiana Pacers days, Stephenson was a nemesis of LeBron James, always trying to get under his skin with various shenanigans.

Despite his quirks on and off the court, Stephenson was a solid role player for the Lakers. He appeared in 68 games in Los Angeles and was his usual all-around self, averaging 7.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game.

That 2018-19 Lakers team wasn't ready to compete and failed to make the playoffs. They proceeded to trade for Anthony Davis next offseason before immediately winning the NBA championship.

Stephenson continued to bounce around, having a stint in China and the G League before returning to the NBA in the 2021-22 season. He was most recently with the Iowa Wolves in the G League, hoping to sign with a team for a postseason run in 2024 but that never came to fruition. At age 34, he is still waiting for a call but it may never come.
