After being one of the pleasant surprises of the NFL season, the Los Angeles Rams are looking to build upon their 10-7 record next year. Unlike last season, the Rams will be able to retain most of their core players in 2024.

Even more importantly, the Rams will have the ability to add players in the open market this offseason. The 2024 salary cap, expected to exceed $240 million, gives the Rams plenty of breathing room to wheel and deal in free agency. According to Over the Cap, Los Angeles currently has $27.6 million in cap space, but they could easily free up enough space to get to over $50 million.

There are a few areas of pressing need that the Rams will need to address in the offseason. Sean McVay will certainly look to bolster the secondary, as well as give Matthew Stafford more weapons on the offensive end. Here are five free agents that Los Angeles needs to target to fill their needs.

Brian Burns, EDGE

There are perhaps more pressing needs on the roster, but any list of Rams' targets has to start with Brian Burns. Long been the apple of Sean McVay's eye, the Carolina Panthers' edge rusher almost became a Ram last season until Carolina rejected Los Angeles' trade offer. Reportedly, the package they turned down included two first-round picks.

The 25-year-old is now hitting free agency and is one of the best players on the market this offseason. The Panthers might franchise tag him but if he is available, he could be an ideal option for the Rams.

Burns put together another solid season in 2023, posting his fourth straight pass-rush grade above 70, according to PFF.

He will be costly but considering his age and elite performance amidst the chaos in Carolina, he might be worth every penny.
