Adam Schefter Reveals Surprising Update on Rams' Early Round Draft Plans
It's officially draft week, Rams fans! It's an exciting one for the Los Angeles Rams this year, as they own a first-round selection for the first time since 2016. In total, they have 11 draft picks in the 2024 NFL Draft and have a chance to add some serious talent.
ESPN's Adam Schefter dropped an article that gave some great draft insight and Rams fans would be intrigued to hear who their team could be targeting early on in the draft.
Rams Rumors: Adam Schefter Says Los Angeles Has Ties To A QB
Matthew Stafford, 36, has three years left on his deal but after 2024, there will be no guaranteed money left. He's dealt with injuries over the past two years and the Rams could be looking for his successor. According to Schefter, they have their eyes on one specific quarterback: Oregon's Bo Nix.
General Manager Les Snead was a graduate assistant coach at Auburn in 1993. During that time, Patrick Nix, Bo's father, was the starting quarterback for the Tigers.
Nix spent five seasons in college football at Auburn and Oregon. He's played a ton of football and has a very high IQ. The Alabama native has a blazing quick throwing release with a strong arm to push the ball downfield. He has a knack for taking care of the football and knows how to attack different coverages.
In his collegiate career, he completed 66% of his throws for 15,352 passing yards for 113 passing touchdowns and 26 interceptions.
The Rams are starting to look at life after Stafford and Nix could be the perfect target for LA with the 19th overall selection, or even in trade-up from 52 if he falls to the second round as some are projecting.
Adding Nix now would give him some time to learn under Stafford before taking over as the starter. And learning from a veteran like Stafford plus QB-whisperer Sean McVay could be the ideal situation to develop his game for the NFL level.
Heading into the draft, the Rams have the fourth-best odds (+1100) to snag Nix per FanDuel Sportsbook.
