Chargers Down to One More Big Contract Decision After Joey Bosa News
The Los Angeles Chargers had big decisions to make regarding four impactful players on the roster. WRs Keenan Allen and Mike Williams along with edge defenders Khalil Mack and Joey Bosa.
They decided to release Williams, which saved them $20 million against the cap. Meanwhile, Mack is set to return to Los Angeles in 2024 after restructuring his current deal. Bosa followed in Mack's footsteps.
Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, Bosa restructured his contract and will remain with the Chargers for the 2024 campaign.
Los Angeles News: Joey Bosa is Slated to Return to the Chargers for the 2024 Season
Before the contract restructure, Bosa was scheduled to have a $36.6 million cap hit in 2024, which is a massive number.
The Ohio State product has been dealing with his injuries during the past two seasons, suiting up in just 14 games.
When healthy, Bosa and Mack become a formidable duo screaming off the edge. The 28-year-old has the ability to win both power and finesse to generate pressure on the quarterback.
Since entering the league in 2016, Bosa ranks 10th in total sacks (67) with four seasons notching double-digit sacks. With Jim Harbaugh now leading the way, he wants to have quality veterans on the roster. Bosa and Mack check that box.
Los Angeles now needs to figure out what they want to do with Allen. He's going to have a $34.7 million cap hit in 2024 but he is still Justin Herbert's go-to option.
He's been with the Chargers his entire career, logging 904 receptions for 10,530 receiving yards, and 59 touchdowns.
Heading into a critical offseason, the Chargers need to ace their moves to improve their chances of winning the division to catch the Kansas City Chiefs but according to FanDuel Sportsbook, Los Angeles is +370 underdogs to win the AFC West.
