The Los Angeles Chargers have an uphill climb this season. This is phase one of a rebuild under new head coach Jim Harbaugh.

The Chargers have their work cut out for them to be a serious threat in the AFC but they certainly have the right man leading the way. Now with the regular season officially starting next week, teams around the NFL are fine-tuning their rosters.

The Chargers are one of them and they made a shocking trade on Wednesday afternoon.

Chargers News: Los Angeles Added Defensive Back Elijah Molden

Per Ian Rapoport, the Chargers are trading for defensive back Elijah Molden from the Tennessee Titans. The compensation is a late-round draft pick.

The Chargers have Derwin James as the anchor in the backend but they decided to add more reinforcements prior to the 2024 season. The 25-year-old is an instinctive playmaker who has quick feet to change directions.

He's coming off his best season in the pros last season. In 2023 with the Titans, Molden finished with 73 total tackles, four pass deflections, and one interception.

The Titans ended up adding Jamal Adams and Quandre Diggs to the safety room with Amani Hooker already in the fold. The space was limited so Tennessee wanted to move on.

Now Molden has a chance to get a fresh start in Los Angeles and give them someone who can play both corner or safety if needed.

He now joins his former teammate Kristian Fulton in Los Angeles, as they played together for three seasons in Tennessee.
