It's only Week 4 of the NFL season and Chargers star defender Joey Bosa is again dealing with injuries. After re-aggravating his hip injury against the Pittsburgh Steelers last week, Bosa left the game after the first drive.

He was previously dealing with a back injury during Week 2. All of this was coming on the heels of his offseason surgery on his left hand.

The four-time Pro Bowler can't seem to catch a break. After only appearing in 14 games over the past two seasons, Bosa is set to miss his first game of the season. After not practicing this week, Bosa was ruled out for the AFC West showdown against the Chiefs.

NFL News: Joey Bosa Ruled Out vs. Chiefs

This is a major blow for the Chargers, who started the season very well on the defensive side of the ball. They currently rank third in the NFL in points allowed (11.0) and Bosa was a huge part of that success. Bosa had two sacks and nine tackles in the two games he finished. He also received an elite 90.8 grade on PFF.

Going up against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, the Chargers needed their full complement of defenders but that will not be the case.

Starting safety Derwin James was previously suspended for the occasion and Bosa's injury will further deplete the Bolts on that end of the field. Bud Dupree and Tuli Tuipulotu will get a larger share of the defensive snaps but whether that will be enough to slow down the undefeated Chiefs remains to be seen.
